As students work, they choose a story to read, and then answer four comprehension questions presented by Martys grandma. Students can have the computer pace their reading at any of nine different speeds. Student work on ten kinds of comprehension questions is monitored, and reports can be printed or saved to disk.

Reloading saved data for subsequent sessions is useful in Chapter I settings. Multiple choice vocabulary tests covering the glossary words in each group of ten stories also are included in the program for pre and post testing, or just for fun.

As children read these materials, they are motivated by curiosity about Marty's relatives and amused by similarities between Marty's ancestors and famous characters of fact and fiction.
