MEville to WEville was specifically developed for students with disabilities who have difficulties learning to read and write through traditional instructional methods. Designed to build a classroom community that promotes a sense of belonging, each unit offers students a new and different perspective on themselves, their families, and their school. In Unit 1: Me, students focus on individuality and build a sense of self through a range of lessons about Who I Am, How I Feel and What I Like. Unit 1 includes the book Today I Feel Silly, written by Jamie Lee Curtis. In Unit 2: My Family, students are given the opportunity to focus on relationship building as they participate in themed lessons, including Who Is My Family, Things We Do and Living With My Family. Unit 2 includes the book Families, written by Ann Morris to support literacy learning. In Unit 3: My School, students cooperate with fellow classmates as they explore themed lessons that focus on Who Is At My School, What We Do and Being A Student. Unit 3 includes the book My Special Day at Third Street School, written by Eve Bunting.
